Mini Stadium Parade among six synthetic turfs to be developed in UT soon: Sarmad

*Bhalwal holds Nagrota to draw in inaugural Football tie

JAMMU, Dec 30:  Administration of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory is committed to promote sports in its every nook and corner and raise infrastructural facilities at all levels.
It was stated by Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez while inaugurating prestigious Khelo India Games in the disciplines of Football and Cricket in an impressive, colourful and well attended function at Mini Stadium, here today.
He said that six synthetic turfs will be developed in the Union Territory very soon, out of which one will be developed at Mini Stadium Parade.
Sarmad further said that around 1200 boys will be taking part in first phase of this sporting extravaganza, adding that 14 teams will be participating in Football and around 40 teams in Cricket Tournament namely Spring Shield T20 Championship.
Mr Sarmad was accompanied by Director General Youth Services and Sports, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary and a galaxy of dignitaries from Administration and Sports fraternity.
In an inaugural Football match, Block Nagrota held Bhalwal to goalless (0-0) draw. The players of both the teams showed extraordinary soccer skills and the play was amalgam of offence and defence. However, none of the teams succeeded in scoring any goal and the match ended in a draw.
The event is jointly being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports and Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, under the overall supervision of Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez.
