MENDHAR, Jan 16: A new Xylo vehicle was set on fire by some miscreants in Salwah area of Mendhar Sub Division in district Poonch last night.
Sources said that Xylo vehicle No. JK02BC / 7611, belonging to one Zaheer Abbas, son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Dharana in Mendhar, suddenly caught fire under mysterious circumstances at Salwah village, about 11 kms away from Mendhar. After getting information, Police team rushed to the spot. The car had completely damaged before the police arrived there.
SHO Tahir Yousaf Khan, Naib Tehsildar Ashfaq Ahmed Fani also reached the spot. They said that the matter was being investigated. The cause of fire is being ascertained but it appears some mischief. A case has been registered at Mendhar Police Station.
While a police officer from Mendhar Thana, while down playing the incident, interestingly claimed that it appears to the be the case of short circuit, but the owner of the vehicle it is the handiwork of some miscreants. He said the police has not even registered a case in this regard.
Surprisingly, Mendhar is the only place in the entire Jammu and Kashmir, where five such incident of burning vehicles have taken place during last one year. The police has totally failed to work out even a single case so far. A police officer even denied to give the FIR Nos of these past five cases when the `Excelsior’ reporter approached.
