Facilitate SDHs for cataract surgeries: VCT

JAMMU, Jan 17: NGO Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT) has demanded provision of cataract surgeries in all the Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) of Jammu province and appointment of Eye Specialists there.
In a letter written to the Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, the Trust has stated that only this facility (of cataract surgeries at SDHs) will restore vision among the rural population living in the dark.
In the letter Satya Pal Saraf, Organiser VCT wrote that they (VCT) organised about 127 free cataract surgery camps in far flung areas of Jammu province at the door steps of needy and restored vision to more than 7500 poor people.
He also stated that post-operation medicines, lenses, spectacles, free boarding and lodging etc was also provided to the patients and their attendants during the cataract camps.
Saraf also mentioned about the importance of the eye sight.
