J&K Masters Badminton Championship

JAMMU, Feb 4: Balbir Jamwal won the men’s singles title in 65 age group in the J&K State Masters Badminton Championship held under the banner of J&K Badminton Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
He defeated KDS Jamwal in straight easy sets of 21-10, 21-08. However, pairing with RK Sodi, Balbir lost the doubles event to KDS Jamwal and Hanjeet Sethi 21-16, 21-19.
Similarly, men’s singles 55 year title went to Ramesh Sharma, who beat Sunil Gurkha 21-10, 21-12 while doubles final in the same age group won by the pair of Sunil Gurkha and Anil Gurkha, who beat Ramesh Sharma and Khajuria 21-16, 18-21, 21-19.
The singles 35 year category final won by Puran Chand, who defeated Vipen Sharma 21-16, 21-18. The doubles title in this age group bagged by Sunit Sharma and Vipen Sharma, who trounced the duo of Pwanjit Singh and Avnish 21-12, 21-14.
In 40 year age group single final, Gurvinder Singh defeated Puran Chand 21-16, 21-19 while Rahul Sharma and Avnish Sharma won the doubles title beating Sunit and Vikram Jamwal 21-14, 21-12.
Lalit Parkash beat Daljit Singh 21-19, 21-16 in 45 age group final.
The finals was witnessed besides others by Divisional Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council, Ravi Singh and chairman of J&K Badminton Association, Dr O D Sharma. The technical penal was led by Rahul Sharma.
