Sham Lal Hockey Academy organises matches on Coach’s anniversary

POONCH, Feb 5: Friendly hockey matches marked the 2nd death anniversary of SAI Hockey coach and vice president of the Hockey J&K, Sham Lal Sharma, who died in a tragic road accident while on way back from a National tournament in 2018, at Sports Stadium, here today.
The event was organised by Sham Lal Hockey Academy and Power House Hockey Club under the technical supervision of Pawan Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, both sons of Sham Lal Sharma, involving young trainees of the district.
In one such match, hosts Sham Lal Hockey Academy defeated Power House Hockey Club by a solitary goal. The only goal came through Jaspreet in 23rd minutes.
In other match, Poonch XI defeated Stadium XI 5-4 in a close contest. Sanjeev scored two goals in the 42nd and 43rd minute while Jagmeet, Salil and Matinder added one each in the 24th, 29th and 45th minute of the match respectively. From Stadium XI, Rudar netted three goals and Jagmeet scored the other.
Matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Harmik Singh, Vikas Sharma and Ravinder Singh.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Rahul Yadav was the chief guest while SSP Poonch, Ramesh Kumar Angral and Mohan Choudhary were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, both special guests, the DDC and the SSP highlighted the contributions of late Sham Lal Sharma for the game of Hockey, especially in district Poonch.
