JAMMU, Mar 26: Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, organized a Mehfile-e-Mousiqi’ in which Khalid Bashir’s Urdu poetry was sung by well known gazal singer Sham Sajan before invited audience at Kendra’s studio, here today.
Showcasing the literary achievements of Khalid Bashir, presently the Secretary of J&K Cultural Academy, today’s program was first id its nature wherein musical rendition of poetry of a noted poet was blended with a commentary his creative genius.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabir Mujahid, Director Doordarshan Jammu, said that such programs are going to be a regular feature in future as these have been kept in the Fixed Point Chart and shall be telecast every Wednesday on 6.30. p.m. Programs of noted Dogri poets are being composed and shall be soon taken up for production, he said.
The program was conducted by Liaqat Jafari, well known Urdu poet whose command over the Urdu language and idiom made the program a memorable experience for the audience which comprised of writers, poets and members of civil society.
