‘Vyeth’ premiers film on Makhan Lal Saraf

JAMMU, Mar 26: In an acknowledgment of Makhan Lal Saraf’s life-long commitment and dedicated to theatre and culture, ‘Vyeth’, a socio-cultural organization, released ‘Profile for Progeny’, a DVD of ninety minute film on his life and achievements, at the IIIM auditorium, here today.
Vijay Bakaya, MLC, and chief patron of Vyeth, was the chief guest while Khalid Bashir, Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy, Shabir Mujahid, Director Jammu Doordarshan and P N Munshi, were present in the presidium.
Three plays written by Makhan Lal Saraf in Kashmiri also released on the occasion were ‘Rath Ha Vandyae Maliniyo’, a play based around short story by Krishan Chander, ‘Wattan Dar’, a play revolving around a migrant teacher and ‘Novegaash’, a play based on Rabinder Nath Tagore’s ‘Nai Roshni’. Along with launching of Vyeth’s brochure, a theme song by Naina Sapru was also played on the occasion. Prof Virender Rawal, founder president Vyeth, gave the welcome address while vote of thanks was given by Anita Razdan, secretary Vyeth.
Large number of intellectuals, writers and members of civil society attended the program.
