JAMMU, Feb 6: Inter-collegiate Weightlifting (Women) Championship, 2019-20 concluded today at Indoor Hall, University of Jammu.
The championship was organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in which the players from various colleges, affiliated with the Jammu University participated.
The overall championship was lifted by PG Department with 27 points and Government Degree Colllege, Kunjwani stood second with 9 points.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Physical Education was the chief guest during function, who awarded medals to the winners and over all championship trophy to the PG Department team in the presence of Prof Ashu Jolly, Narinder Sharma, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Romesh Chander and Gagan Kumar.
The bouts were officiated by Dr Dhanraj Singh Salathia, Amit Sharma, Dayal Singh and Jai Bharat.
In weight category (45 kg), Priya Kumari of PG Department bagged Gold and Silver clinched by Pooja of GDC Kunjwani.
In 49 kg, Deepika Sharma, PG Department won Gold and Seeta Kumari of GDC Kunjwani got Silver.
In 55 kg, Shivani Sharma from PG Department secured Gold, Lakshmi from GDC Kunjwani clinched Silver while Kavita Sharma of PG Department bagged Bronze.
In 59 kg, Gold won by Shamli Chowdhary, Silver by Ritika Sharma and Bronze by Anjana Rani of PG Department GDC Kathua and PG Department respectively.
In 64 kg, Gold medal was secured by Romal Sharma of PG Department and silver medal by Sunily Sharma of GDC Kathua.
