Protest by diploma holders

SRINAGAR, Mar 26:  Dozens of students from Government Women’s Polytechnic College, Bemina today staged protests against the government for not recognizing their Office Management and Computer Application (OMCA) diploma certificates for any Government job.
The protesting students said that they have been enrolled for the diploma through proper entrance procedure, but without any reason the Government had decided not to recognize their diploma for any job. “In the same college, when students from other diploma courses can go for higher degrees, why can’t we,” they said.
They said the Government had put the future of thousands of youth in jeopardy, as the students had spent their precious three years of life to achieve the diploma.
“Wherever, we have applied for job, we have been asked to produce degree/diploma certificate, when we produce OMCA diploma certificate, recognized from Government women’s Poly technic College, Bemina, we are every time told that the diploma is not valid,” they said.
The students threatened to go for indefinite strike, if the Government doesn’t come clear on their issue and address their genuine problems.
