JAMMU, Feb 15: Police arrested six drug peddlers and recovered large quantity of contraband from their possession.
As per police sources, under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ a team from Janipur Police Station led by ASI Maqbool Hussain under the supervision of SHO Janipur Inspector Naresh Sharma during checking at Muthi Morh intercepted two persons, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 4 grams heroin for their possession and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohit Sudan, son of Late Raj Kumar of Paloura near Sai Baba Temple Lane and Deepak Bhat, son of Ashok of Muthi, District Jammu.
Meanwhile, a team from Chatta Police Post apprehended a drug peddler along with 10 grams of heroin.
The accused has been identified as Rahul Kumar alias Atul, son of Raj Kumar of Purana Pind Tehsil RS Pura Ward Number 13.
In another similar case, a joint team of Police Station Kanachak and Border Police Post (BPP) Gajansoo laid a naka near Deharan and arrested a drug peddler along with 550 grams ganja.
The arrested person has been identified as Davinder Singh, son of Ram Singh of Deharan.
Police team led by SHO Kanachak Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar and assisted by Incharge BPP Gajansoo ASI Sanjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul and SP Rural Jammu Suram Singh.
However, a team from Banihal Police Station during checking at T Chowk intercepted a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB02DP-0696.
During checking, police team recovered 450 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, son of Shinder Singh, a resident of District Ludhiana Punjab.
In another incident, a team from Banihal Police Station during checking of a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB65AX-2807 recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Jamel Singh, son of Dalvinder Singh of Halilpur Tehsil Fatehgarh Sahib Punjab.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Hussain Bukhari and assisted by Incharge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel SI Waseem Mehraj made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb Ul Rehman.
