POONCH, Mar 28: Stadium Red outplayed Stadium Yellow by solitary goal in the final match and lifted the coveted trophy of Sub-Junior Hockey Championship, being organized by Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Sports Stadium, here.
In the first half, Varun Raina of Stadium Red netted the goal in the 15th minute, which the opponent team failed to equalize the score and the first half ended with 1-0 goal.
In the second half, Stadium Yellow players tried their level best to clinch the match, but failed in front of the enthusiastic Stadium Red players and thus lost the match.
Meanwhile, J&K Power House Hockey Club routed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club by a huge margin of nine goals to zero and claimed the title trophy of Junior Hockey Championship (boys) being organized by Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Sports stadium, here.
In the first half, Umesh Kumar of J&K Power Hockey Club chipped in first goal of the match in the 4th min and raised the scoreboard. Just after one minute of the first goal, Ishtaiq Hussain netted the goal via penalty corner and raised the pressure on the opponent team by 2-0 goals.
In the 12th minute of the first half, Chanarjeet Singh of J&K Power House Hockey Club scored the goal and brought the opponent team under extreme pressure.
After the third goal of the match, aggressive Tarvinder Pal Singh of J&K Power House Hockey Club scored four goals in 28th, 30th, 31st, and 35th minutes and raised the scorecard to 7-0 goals till the end of the first half.
In the second half, Charanjeet Singh netted the goal in the 40th minute, while Tarvinder Pal Singh again bounced back in the 60th minute and scored the goal.
From the beginning, the players of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club were looking dominated into the hands of the J&K Power House Hockey Club and thus lost the match with 9-0 goals.
The matches were officiated by Tarvinder Pal Singh, Ishwaq Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, NIS Hockey coach and Kawaldeep Singh.
On the valedictory function, Nirdosh Kumar, incharge, Sports Stadium Poonch was the chief guest, who awarded the winners, in presence of Dr Jeevan Lal Kapoor, president, Hockey Poonch, Sham Lal Sharma, SAI Hockey coach and organizer of the championship, Ravinder Singh, locals and sports lovers.
