Srinagar, Feb 20: Lower Munda Shopkeepers Union today demanded rehabilitation after Government abolished the tool post in December last year.
Around a dozen shopkeepers assembled at Press Enclave here and demanded their rehabilitation. They were carrying placards which read “we want rehabilitation” and “we want justice”. They said the abolition of the toll post has rendered them jobless.

Farooq Ahmad, a shopkeeper said around 200 shopkeepers and 300 vendors who were running trade outlets at Lower Munda Toll post have been left jobless. “We want Government to rehabilitate us and think about the future of our children. The Government has identified a state land for the purpose but is delaying the process,” he said, adding that the place, which was once known as the gateway to Kashmir for its trading activities, has been ruined with the decision.
The protesters requested Lt. Governor, G C Murmu, to look into the matter.
