RAJOURI, Mar 29: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) organized a debate competition on the topic “In the opinion of the house, discrimination against Women will be detrimental for a vibrant society”.
The debate was organized by Dean of Students MR Chowdhary, in which 10 scholars took part.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad A Hamal was chief guest, who while speaking focused on the importance of women folk in the society and termed discrimination against women as big threat to democracy and development.
He added that women have proved their mettle in all sectors and no doubt a lot of awareness has been created in the world on the women issues.
In the competition, Anisha Bashir of MBA, Shabnum Aziz of BBA and Sayeed Tanzeel Ahmed of MCA were adjudged as first, seond and third respectively.
Prof GH Dar, Fellow Mahatma Gandhi Chair, Prof M Asgar, Dean School of Mathematical Sciences and Engineering and SK Gupta, HoD Department of Management Studies acted as jury members.
The programme was compeered by Associate Dean of Students Dr Asgar Ali Shah.
Among others present were Controller of Examination Mohammad Ishaq, Special Secretary to VC Suneet Gupta, University Engineer BR Changdal, faculty members and students.
