JAMMU, Mar 30: Sakshi Dogra, Mandeep Kour and Rohina Akhtar outplayed their respective opponents in women’s semifinal rounds and advanced to the final of the Jammu District Boxing Championship, which commenced at indoor complex, MA stadium here today.
In the first bout, Sakshi stunned Arushi Sharma, whereas, in the second bout, Mandeep Kour thrashed Pooja Devi. In the third bout, Rohina Akhtar outplayed Asina Bano.
In the semifinals of the senior men’s category, Nitin trounced Shubam Singh, whereas Salim Khan routed Sandeep Singh, Hardesh Singh beat Ashok Kumar, Shubam Sharma outplayed Vivek Singh, Aman Sharma beat Vijay Kumar, Honey Gupta routed Feroz Khan, Lalit Kumar thrashed Shibam, Amit Sharma beat Anil Chib and Ankush Kumar routed Deepak Kumar.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal matches, Sandeep Singh beat Bobby, Salim Khan thrashed Joginder Kumar, Vivek Singh routed Anil Kumar, Anil Chib routed Anshul Sharma and Amit Sharma beat Vikram Deep.
The matches were officiated by Anil Wadhera, senior boxing coach, Sanjeev Jamwal, boxing coach, Amit Sharma, Rohit Kumar, Satpal, Raj and Rajinder Singh.
The tournament was declared open by Ashutosh Sharma, vice president, Amateur Boxing Federation of India, in presence of Dr Nirmolak Singh, Chairman, Medical Commission Amateur Boxing Federation of India and officials of J&K Amateur Boxing Association.
The championship is being organized by J&K Amateur Boxing Association, in which around hundred boxers under different age group are participating.
