UDHAMPUR, Mar 24: Entire Dudu Sub Division of district Udhampur is totally cut off for the last over four weeks as the R&B authorities have totally failed to restore this road connecting over 30,000 people. Even entire Dudu area has been plunged into darkness for the last one week due to suspension of power supply.
Reports said that Latti-Dudu-Basantgarh road has been blocked following land slides at Bali village about 3 kms ahead of Latti town. Half of the land slides were cleared by a an old machine available in the area few weeks ago. But as this machine went out of order while at work and was not even repaired by the R&B authorities Chenani, the road could not be cleared till date.
In the meantime, some more land slides hit the road and major portion of the road has been affected. So entire large remote area of Latti- Dudu- Basantgarh has been cut off. Neither local administration, nor the District administration has bothered to mitigate the sufferings of the people of this area.
Sarpanch, Latti, Kasturi Lal Gupta and Sarpanch, Dudu, Dev Raj alleged that matter was brought to the notice of R&B officials concerned but the road could not be restored. They said there is only one old machine for road clearance work and it always remains out of order. There is no Bulldozer or JCB available with the Department and the officials concerned from Udhampur Division or Chenani Sub Division hardly visit the area. For the last about one month this road is blocked. Ambulance or even the LMVs can not move. For any emergency, the vehicles can not operate there. Whereas, the condition of entire road from Man Talai to Dudu is worst.
They further alleged that electric transformer at Dudu is lying out of order for the last one week. It was not repaired or replaced till now. PDD can not send vehicle due to road blockade. So the people are living under darkness for the last one week.
The Panchayat members from Dudu-Latti urged upon the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Chief Secretary and Lt Governor, GC Murmu to intervene personally into the matter and provide relief to the suffering villagers from this remote belt.
