Army rescues 43 civilians hit by landslide

SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Army rescued 43 persons from five families after their homes were smashed by a landslide in Baramulla area of J&K.
A handout of the Army stated that the rescued people were shifted to a safer location and were provided with relief material at Uplona Army Camp.
The handout further stated that free ration was also given to the affected families along with tents to accommodate their luggage and belongings.
Earlier the Army got information on March 28 late in the evening regarding landslide at Gujjar Mohalla of village Latifabad in which three houses and a cow shed were damaged.
Acting swiftly the troops of Uplona Army Camp along with SHO Police Station Chandosa rushed to the spot and started evacuating people.
Locals have hailed the helpful deed of army.
