JAMMU, Mar 31: Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha and General Secretary AICCC, Ghulam Nabi Azad today talked to Chief Ministers of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand and sought help for the students, labourers and small traders from Jammu and Kashmir, stranded in their States.
Azad spoke to Capt Amrinder Singh, Chief Minister Punjab, Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister Himachal and Trivender Singh, Chief Minister of Uttrakhand and discussed the issue of large number of students, labourers and small traders belonging to various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, who could not come back in time and are presently stranded in their States and are facing various hardships on account of rent of their premises, fee etc and shortage of food stuffs and other related issues.
According to a JKPCC handout, here today, Azad requested the State Governments to take care of these people from J&K and look after them well during the period. He also requested them to direct the various Deputy Commissioners/ Districts Collectors to set up special helplines for these people in respective districts so that they can seek the necessary help as and when required.
The Chief Ministers assured Azad of all necessary help and care of the residents of J&K, presently in their States and do everything possible for providing them helpline facilities to sort out their hardships and facilitate their comfortable stay during the ongoing lockdown, due to coronavirus threat.
