MBBA urges PM for resumption of Dogri news bulletins

JAMMU, Apr 1: Maatri Bhasha Bachao Andolan (MBBA) today urged Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for the resumption of Dogri news bulletins which closed recently by All India Radio (AIR).
Convernor of MBBA, Hari Singh Jalmeria said that the Central Government prior closed the Central Dogri News unit from the AIR Delhi Headquarter and assigned broadcasting of central news bulletins to Regional News Unit of Jammu Station of AIR.
Now, it has been observed that the both the bulletins were broadcasted at 8:30 am and 7:15 pm daily, have been closed for the last over one week and it is highly painful and a great set back to the Dogri speaking people due to insensitive decision of the Union Government.
In a letter written to the Prime Minister, Jalmeria has projected the grave concern of the Dogra community over the closure of Central News units of Dogri and requested for restoration of the Dogri News unit at Delhi Headquarter of AIR /Prasar Bharti and resumption of closed Dogri news bulletins.
“Despite over one Crore people speak Dogri in J&K, adjoining areas of Punjab, Himachal and even in Pakistan. The Dogri language deserves a respectful treatment for its promotion not demotion,” he said.
He further said that these bulletins were started in 1947 from the AIR, Delhi Headquarter keeping in view the extensive reach of Dogri to neutralize the evil propaganda unleashed by Pakistan against the Jammu and Kashmir.
