DM Leh for door-to-door distribution of PMGKY benefits

LEH, Apr 6: In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic leading to nationwide lockdown, Government of India (GoI) had announced financial assistance to the beneficiaries under PM Garib Kalyan Yojna (scheme).
Since there is a complete lockdown, District Magistrate Leh Sachin Kumar has given clear instructions to the banks for identification of beneficiaries at sub-division and village wise for their verification and door-to-door distribution of the benefits in close coordination with the Sub-Divisional Magistrates alongwith village Sarpanchs and Nambardars.
“The entire exercise will be completed by April 10, 2020,” Sachin asserted.
In this direction, DM Sachin has instructed the banks to disburse the money through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the 3,310 beneficiaries falling under various categories of National Social Assistance (NSA) programme and Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) in the district.
Under NSA programme 1,103 beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), 146 of Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and 84 beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Disability Scheme (IGNDPS) will be given the benefit.
While as under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) 815 beneficiaries of Old Age Pension (OAP), 843 of Women in Distress (WID), and 319 beneficiaries under Physically Challenged Persons (PCP) programmes will benefit from this DBT.
