Jammu District Inter-Zonal girls competitions get underway

JAMMU, May 16: The Inter-Zonal competitions of Jammu district in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball under-14 and under-17 years commenced at Higher Secondary School, Domana, here today.
About 600 players drawn from almost all the zones of Jammu district are taking part in the tournament, which is being held under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Shifat Singh, Senior Citizen and member School Development Committee, HSS Domana inaugurated the competitions.
Miran Sahib drubbed Bhalwal to claim volleyball under-14 title, while the semifinals line up has been drawn in all other competitions. The semis and the finals shall be held tomorrow at the same venue.
Meanwhile, in wrestling boys events held today, Rafiq Ahmed clinched gold in 32 kg category, while Gulshan Singh remained runners-up, in 35 kg Rakesh Bahadur won gold and Tanbir Singh claimed silver. Vishal Mehra got gold in 38 kg, while Chetan Kumar claimed silver. In 41 kg, Yaqoob Khan won gold and Amit Kumar bagged silver. Showket Ali bagged gold in 45 kg and Anil Kumar got silver. In 50 kg weight category, Sahil Kumar won gold and Murad Ali bagged silver.
