SAMBA, Apr 16: The Pharmaceutical unit holders in Samba today alleged that one of their unit holders who had gone to supply of surgical material to R S Pura was not allowed by the Police to cross the Indira Nagar.
President Small and Tiny Industrial Units Jammu province, Harvinder Singh said that proprietor of Parkash Pharmaceuticals dealing with manufacturing of surgical items, sanitizers , bandage and cotton with units at Samba and Jammu was on his way to deliver the surgical items and sanitizers in R S Pura but he was not allowed to leave ahead of Indira Nagar, R S Pura by the Police despite having the permission from District Development Commissioner, Samba.
Singh said one Sub Inspector on duty did not allow him to deliver the surgical items and sanitizers in the area and forced him to beat a hasty retreat despite the fact that the Government of India has accorded permission to movement of essential services including medicines in the country.
He said when the concerned unit holder asked the SI to talk with DC he refused and did not allow him to go ahead saying that he can’t sell the items manufactured in Samba district outside the district. Taking serious note of the behavior of Sub Inspector, Singh said this way the people dealing in Pharmaceutical business feel harassed. Singh in an appeal to Lt. Governor G C Murmu has demanded that the officials entrusted the duty to enforce the lockdown should be given instructions not to harass the people dealing with essential services.
Meanwhile, when contacted SDM, R S Pura, Ram Lal Sharma however denied the report saying that no such thing has happened in R S Pura. He said proper instructions have been given to officers as well as police not to stop the people dealing with essential services and it has been made binding on the concerned officers and the police that after seeing the papers they must be allowed to discharge their duty.
