JAMMU, Apr 27: Responding to PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda ‘s call, former Dy CM, Kavinder Gupta continued the drive to distribute ration kits and other essential commodities to people in Langar-Kunjwani, Nanak Nagar Ward 42, Indira Colony and Laker Mandi Janipur amid the nationwide lockdown implemented to contain the spread of Coronavirus along with BJP district president, Vinay Gupta, district general secretary, Ankush Gupta, Deepak (Nittu) Gupta and Gandhi Nagar Mandal president, Neeraj Lucky Puri.
A total of 500 dry ration packets donated by BJP district general secretary, Ankush Gupta and 200 bags of rice donated by Vikas Jandyal were distributed among migrant labourers and local needy residents.
On the occasion Gupta said with the ongoing lockdowns in light of the Covid-19 pandemic many people have quickly adapted to working from home, while a large part of the community has been going to bed without knowing if they will be able to afford a meal for their family the next day. Workers at construction sites, shops, restaurants, delivery staff and local transport systems, the daily wager community has seen their only source of income comes to a sudden halt, leaving them with no means to earn themselves a meal during these days of lockdown. Hunger and desperation prevails, and we can do something to help our fellow citizens, he added.
“We need teamwork to combat the Coronavirus,” to combat the (COVID-19) and “I call upon the privileged community of society nationwide to support the donation campaign to help Government of India in the noble cause” he said and added that every member of society has to follow five key steps to protect their health in line with WHO guidance, focused on hand washing, coughing etiquette, not touching your face, physical/social distance and staying home.
Narinder Koki, Corporator Anil, Capt.(retd) Jameet Singh, Darshan Abrol, Mandeep Chowdhary and others were present on the occasion.
