SRINAGAR: Urging J&K residents, who are stranded in different parts of the country, not to move without prior consent from the Union Territory administration, the government on Thursday said all unregulated arrivals will be quarantined for 21 days at Lakhanpur.
J&K administration spokesperson Rohit Kansal said the J&K UT is shortly issuing details SOP to facilitate organised movement of labourers, students and asked people to wait for the advisory.
Meanwhile, officials said that so far 8500 J&K residents, stranded in different states, have been evacuated so far.
“UT of J&K shortly issuing detailed SoP to facilitate organised movement of labour, students. APPEAL: Please do not move without prior consent of UTJK administration. ALL Unregulated arrivals to be quarantined for 21 days at Lakhanpur @diprjk,” Mr Kansal wrote on twitter.
Officials said that about 2500 more labourers from adjoining states were evacuated during the last 24 hours, taking total people evacuated to more than 8500.
The Coronavirus cases continued to rise unabated as the total number of infected people have swelled to 581 in the Union Territory of J&K. As many as 58 new people, including 57 from Kashmir and one from Jammu, tested for the virus in the first three days of this week in J&K.
Strict restrictions on movement and assembly of people to curtail the spread of Coronavirus continued even as most of the people preferred to stay indoors in view of sudden spike in fresh COVID-19 cases in Kashmir valley, where the lockdown entered 43rd day on Thursday. Eight people have so far lost their lives latest being an 80-year-old woman who died in a hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday due to the infection. (AGENCIES)
