NEW DELHI, May 1: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today handed over 4,900 “Protective Kits” assembled by Kendriya Bhandar, comprising of sanitizer, hand wash etc to the medical and police personnel as a token of appreciation for their work.
Pertinent to mention that Kendriya Bhandar is an affiliate of DoPT (Department of Personal & Training), Govt of India, which is under the charge of Dr Jitendra Singh.
The kits were handed over to the representatives of the Ministry of Health and Delhi Police . The norms of social distancing were observed while doing so.
Meanwhile, Kendriya Bhandar is also procuring PPE kits and making them available to different States and Union Territories as per their requirements.
Later, talking to media Dr. Jitendra Singh said that our country has been engaged in a war against the corona virus for the last several weeks. While most of the citizens have been home bound following the regulations imposed due to the countrywide lockdown, some persons viz, medical and Police personnel , have been working beyond their normal call of duty in these difficult times.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that in response to the call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, Ministries of Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions and Northeast/ DoNER have been taking a series of measures after the declaration of the Lockdown.
Kendriya Bhandar, a welfare project under the aegis of DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training), has been serving the consumers with a regular and continuous supply of essential goods. Earlier, in the first week of last month, DrJitendra Singh had handed over 2,200 Essential kits of edible and household items prepared by Kendriya Bhandar to DM (Central) and SDM, Civil Lines, Central Delhi District for distribution to needy families.
Dr Jitendra Singh pointed out that the Ministry of Personnel, including the Department of Personnel & Training (DOP&T) and Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) under it, as well as the affiliated agencies like Kendriya Bhandar and Grih Kalyan Kendra were among the first to come forward to offer their support and resources in the wake of COVID pandemic. In this context, he referred to the COVID awareness online programme started by DoPT and COVID grievance portal started by ARPG.
