JAMMU, May 11: To protest against the indifferent attitude of Managing Director and Government on the call of Suresh Sharma, spokesman, JK Forest Corporation Employees Forum , maintaining social distancing , employees throughout Union Territory of JK held massive gate demonstrations at divisional as well as SFC Headquarters both at Srinagar and Jammu.
Suresh Sharma, while addressing main protest at Forest Complex Gladni here lambasted the management and Government for maintaining criminal silence for non payment of two months pay in spite of clear cut standing instructions by not less than Prime Minister of India. He said repeated pleas didn’t find any result and demanded immediate release of two months pay to in-service employees and two installments of arrears to the retired employees as Eid festival is fast approaching and employees are badly crippled due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Sharma said today’s protest is also against the clandestine illegal move of Government to reduce the status of the organisation from statutory to that of Limited Company. Under law and set conventions in vogue such companies are established for the new projects with minimum staff requirements but in case of SFC it is an old organization having its birth from DLP and GLU with a heavy establishment cost of more than 11-12 crore per month. The ill conceived idea is fraught with risk of crumbling proposed Forest Development Corporation Ltd under its own establishment cost bill.
He demanded that either it should be merged with Forest Department or allowed to work on GLU module with grant-in-aid and marking support system.
While addressing employees he appealed Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary to give hearing to the Forum as stakeholder before any decision is taken. It was resolved to intensify the struggle as soon as lockdown is lifted. Sharma complimented the employees for making demonstration a successful throughout Union Territory and said the struggle will continue till it is taken to logical conclusion.
