Bhadarwah, May 21: Police arrested the accused involved in killing of six -year-old male leopard.
According to reports, the leopard was killed in upper Dandi village of Neeru range under Bhadarwah Forest Division on May 18.
SDPO Bhadarwah Aadil Rishu said, “A team led by SHO Bhadarwah Shamim Ahmed arrested one Khurshid Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qaider of Bhaderwah in a case registered under FIR Number 54/2020 under Sections 9/49A/49B Wildlife Protection Act 5/25 IA Act from Dandi area in connection with killing of leopard”.
During questioning, the accused confessed that on May 17 this year, he fired upon the leopard in Dandi forest with 12 bore single barrel and killed him in revenge because he has started to eat his cattle, SDPO said, adding that on his confession rifle 12 bore without licence along with two live cartridges has been recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
