NEW DELHI, May 30 : On the occasion of the completion of exactly one year of the second term of the present government, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today released DARPG (Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances) “e-Book” highlighting achievements and important initiatives during last twelve months of the Modi Government 2.0.
Addressing the officials of DARPG, through video conference, from its Head Office at Sardar Patel Bhavan, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave us the Mantra “Perform, Reform and Transform” and while moving ahead in that direction, the last one of year of 2019-20 attains special significance as it gave DARPG an opportunity not only to achieve new heights in the formulation of best practices in governance but also for sharing the same with several other countries of the world as well as different States of the Indian Union as also the newly created Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
It gives us a unique achievement as well as coincidence that soon after the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh came into being from midnight of October 31st 2019, within two weeks, DARPG organized a two-day exhaustive Meet on “Replication of Good Governance Practices’ in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The two-day Meet concluded with the adopting of “Jammu Ghoshna – Sushashan Sankalp”. The officials of the department paid as many as seven visits to the two Union Territories in the first three months to assist the new administration in establishing various instruments of governance.
This was also the year, Dr Jitendra Singh recalled, when, picking up cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we successful carried the Government of India out of the confines of New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan and brought it to the doorstep of stakeholders across the country. In this respect, he cited the holding of regional conferences on governance in different parts of India and expressed satisfaction that within the first year of Modi government 2.0, we had been able to cover States across the country by holding such Meets in places like Shillong in North East, Mumbai in the western part as well as in Nagpur and the first ever conference on “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” at Jammu which was attended by representative fromall States and Union Territories of India.
In the wake of the current COVID pandemic also, Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the DARPG for rising to the occasion and setting up an exclusive Portal window for redressal of COVID related grievances. In this process, not only thousands of grievances are being received but average disposal of COVID related grievances was maintained at 1.4 day on average. In addition, a COVID related dashboard was created during the first few days of pandemic, he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated Secretary DARPG Dr. Kshatrapati Shivaji, Addl Secretary V Srinivas and the entire team for having turned the DARPG into one of the most visible and vibrant organizations of the Government of India.
