JAMMU, June 4: Residency Road Traders’ Association (RRTA) has appealed the Government to revoke ‘No Parking’ order on Residency Road as it will badly affect their business which has already come to standstill due to Coronavirus pandemic and resultant lockdown.
Addressing a press conference today, Pooja Kapoor, president of RRTA, said that the district administration yesterday issued an absurd and drastic order of not allowing parking of any vehicle on Residency Road. She said it was mentioned in the order that even the vehicles of the shopkeepers and customers will not be allowed to stop on the Road.
Stating that it is impossible for the traders of the market to do business unless the order is revoked or some alternate parking space is provided to them, she stressed upon the higher authorities to intervene and revoke this order so that traders can do business without any hindrance.
“Earlier, we used to park our vehicles on the road in front of our shops but now we are being forced to parked the same at a distance of 2 kilometre and then walk up to our shops,” Pooja said and questioned whether doing this they are saving from Corona or pushing towards Corona as the more we walk, the more people come in contact with us and thus chances of contracting the Coronavirus increase.
RRTA president said yesterday they approached to concerned SDM who took us to the office of DC Jammu but the DC was not available at that time and we were listened by ACR Jammu who assured us to cooperate till June 8 after which some relaxations will be given.
She appealed the higher authorities to revoke the ‘No Parking’ order at the earliest as it is not only anti-traders but also unfavourable to customers.
