JAMMU, June 5: The Power Employees Coordination Committee (PECC) today called on Managing Director, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd., Yasha Mudgal and apprised her of the issues being faced by the field functionaries and the various steps being taken to check the pilferages of power.
The PECC delegation put before her certain concerns and genuine demands of the cadres working in the field for consideration.
The delegation said the field staff of JPDCL whether it is a need based/daily wager /technician/meter reader/Junior Engineer/Assistant Engineer/Assistant Ex. Engineer have been working relentlessly in the past three months amidst the threat looming over their families who are also under lockdown imposed by Government but they continue to venture out in call of duty and same has produced impeccable results, in terms of smooth management of power supply in all the essential/ domestic areas 24×7 and none of the consumer complaint has remained unaddressed even for bare minimum time period.
The reforms were started on war footing in the month of January and a momentum had been created for revenue realisation and stringent measures of even snapping the electricity of defaulters was carried out which bore fruits in terms of revenue realisation also. However in the month of March beginning the Ammnesty scheme was introduced by the Government which needed involvement of public and accordingly everyone pursued vigorously and even started camps for public awareness. However by 15th March situation had turned bad in terms of COVID-19 and Government imposed lockdown and amnesty scheme had to be delayed and public could not be approached.
PECC however while expressing concern over suspension of two employees belonging to Tech-III and Tech-IV categories strongly emphasised that it has dented the morale of entire cadre of field functionaries who have been relentlessly working during COVID-19 and taking direct suspension as a course without warning letter , has created an atmosphere of mistrust between management and employee. This needs to be revoked as the points raised need to be considered amidst the prevailing unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19
It said regularisation of Daily wagers and Departmental promotion committee meetings for promotions of Tech-III staff are pending since long time and there was thousands of posts lying vacant at various levels within the field staff positions. The regularisation of daily wager staff and promotion of Tech-III and Tech-IV staff needs to be conducted on priority to boost their morale and improve employee efficiency.
The delegation comprised of Er.Jaipal Sharma,Er.Sachin, Ajaz Kazmi, Sanjeev Bali,Tarun Gupta, Anil Slathia, Balbir Singh, HD Singh, Jasbir Singh among others.
