POONCH, June 8: An Army soldier committed suicide by shooting himself to death in Mankote sub sector of Mendhar today.
Police sources said that Lance Naik, Ashish Kumar from 8 Garwal Unit, deployed in forward area of Balnoi in Mankote, allegedly used his service rifle and committed suicide during morning hours today. The unit officers later informed police.
Mendhar police party led by SHO shifted the body of the jawan to SDH Mendhar for performing legal formalities and later handed over to the Unit. A court of inquiry has been ordered by the senior Army officials into the matter.
