DODA, June 8: Members of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) today staged a protest demonstration at Dharie, Gandoh near here demanding release of their salaries.
The protesters included VDC members of village Kota, Kharangal, Dalmara, Rallia, Darie, Chounwari, Luddu, Kanser, Bhargi and Dalori.
They demanded that their salaries should be immediately credited into their accounts so that they may run their family affairs smoothly.
“We have not received our salaries for the last two years due to which our families are suffering,” they claimed.
Leading the protest Chander Kant, Bishan Dass and Yawer Batt said that salaries of VDC members should be release on the pattern of Special Police Officers (SPOs) as they are also working hard at ground level.
The protestors lamented that they are working day and night since decades but their work has been ignored by the Union Home Ministry despite the fact they remained at forefront during the peak of militancy in the region.
They further said that their salaries should be made at par with that of SPOs.
