Stadium XI Seniors, YSCC register convincing wins; sail to next stage

KATHUA, Apr 12: Stadium XI Seniors Kathua and Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) registered convincing wins in their respective matches and sailed into the next stage of the ongoing Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Tawi Organizing Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sports stadium here today.
In the first match of the day, Stadium XI Seniors Kathua outplayed Kashmir Cricket Club (KCC) by a huge margin of 79 runs.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Stadium XI Senior Kathua chipped in 148 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Radhay Shayam chipped in some crispy shots and made 51 runs with the help of 8 boundaries, while Arvind also played well and contributed 41 runs including four balls towards the fence. Aryan also scored 29 runs with the help of one boundary and one six.
For KCC, Vishwajeet claimed 2 wickets, while Sanjeev and Pankaj took one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, KCC bundled out at paltry 79 runs for all out in 17 overs. Rishi chipped in 19 runs, while Tarun made 10 runs.
For Stadium XI Seniors Kathua side, Arvind was the pick of the bowler with 4 wickets by conceding just 21 runs in his four overs spell.
Arvind of Stadium XI Seniors Kathua was declared as man of the match for his all-round performance and was awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 500 by Rattan Bharti, vice president, Tawi Organising Committee.
In the second match, Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) registered a huge victory over Wizard Cricket Club (WCC) by 9 wickets and secured berth in the next round of the tournament.
Electing to bat first, after winning the toss, WCC made 132 runs for all out in 19.3 overs. Sandeep chipped in 23 runs, while Vishu contributed 14 runs.
For YSCC side, Sumit and Manjeet proved their bowling talent and scalped 3 wickets each.
While batting, YSCC achieved the target for the loss of just one wicket during the process. Gurdeep was the top scorer with 69 runs including 9 wickets towards the fence, while Bansi also played well and chipped in 42 runs including five boundaries.
For WCC side, Tarun was the lone player, who scalped one wicket.
Gurpeep of YSCC was adjudged as man of the match for scoring 69 runs and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 500 and a trophy by Shashi Pal, president, Tawi Organising Committee.
The matches were officiated by Mohan Lal, Ram, Anoop Sharma and Tej Pal as umpires, while Ashwani and KV Singh maintained the scorecard.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Satyam XI will clash with Pabla Kathua Club in the first match, while, NCC will take on Warrior Cricket Club (WCC) in the second match.
