JAMMU, June 25: Govt Degree Colleges today organised online inter-collegiate quiz competitions on different topics to prepare 6th semesters students for term end examinations.
Department of Botany, Govt Degree College Akhnoor organised national level online quiz competition on the topic “Economic Botany and Biotechnology.”
About 264 students from 79 different institutions of 18 different states apart from UT of Jammu and Kashmir participated. 130 participants secured 60 percent and above marks were awarded e-certificates after the completion of the event.
Irfan Sadeeq of GDC Poonch bagged 1st position, Surbhi Singh of GCW Gandhi Nagar got 2nd position, 3rd position was clinched by Abrar Aziz of Govt PG College Rajouri whereas 4th position was shared by Anamika Sharma of GDC Akhnoor, Riya Aggarwal of Delhi University and Arti Sharma of GCW Udhampur.
The event was organised by Prof Indeevar Chanyal (Convenor) and Prof Yogesh Sharma (Organising secretary) under the overall supervision of College Principal, Dr Namarta.
Department of Education, Govt Degree College Sunderbani conducted an inter-collegiate quiz competition wherein 92 students from different colleges of Jammu division participated.
The programme was coordinated by Prof Sandeep Sharma and organised by Prof Davinder Kumar and Prof Amit Kumar under the supervision of College Principal, Prof (Dr) Vandana Gupta.
E-certificates were given to 36 students who got 70 percent and above marks.
Government Degree College Paloura (Mishriwala) organized a national level online quiz competition on the theme “Drought and Desertification,” under the supervision of College Principal, Prof Rita Bhagat, Prof Narayan Dutt (Convener) and Dr Savi Behal (Co-convener).
Around 150 students from different colleges across the county participated wherein Akriti Mahajan of Central University Jammu secured first position whereas Smriti of GCW Gandhi Nagar attained 2nd position and Nishma Jamwal of RS Pura got third position. E-certificates were issued to the students who qualified the quiz.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Sanjay Kotwal, Assistant Prof Department of Zoology whereas the event was organized by Dr Pinki Manhas, HOD Environmental Sciences.
Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Nowshera in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control Society organized various online inter collegiate activities to celebrate the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.”
Three different events were organized including poster making on the theme “Just say no to drugs”, slogan writing on “Life doesn’t Rewind, Say no to Drugs” and an inter-collegiate quiz competition on “Drugs and Alcohol Abuse”.
About 45 students from various colleges participated in quiz competition. 23 students qualified for the top three positions in which 12 students from GDC Nowshera, six students from GDC Kishtwar whereas two students from GDC Surankote, two from GDC RS Pura and one from GDC Ramnagar.
The results of poster making and slogan writing contests shall be declared on June 26.
