NASHIK, June 27:
An Indian Army soldier, who was martyred while rescuing his comrades in a river in the Galwan valley, was cremated at his home town at Sakuri Zap village of the district with full military honours on Saturday morning.
Martyr Sachin Vikram More of Malegaon taluka of the district joined the Indian Army in 2003 and was serving his duty in the Engineer Regiment of Indian Army.
His mortal remains were flown in this morning and a large number of people, specially the youth of the village, paid tributes to him. The mortal remains were placed in a decorated Army truck. Soldiers of the Indian Artillery centre at Nashik Road paid their last respects to the martyr by firing gunshots in the air as a mark of respect.
Slogans like ”Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, ”Saheed Jawan Amar rahein”, ”boycott, boycott China”, ”Vande Mataram” rented the air.
Minister for Food, Civil supplies and consumer protection and Nashik district Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Agriculture minister Dada Bhuse, MP and former Union Minister Subhash Bhamre, MP Bharati Pawar, MLA Suhas Kande, Collectgor Suraj Mandhare, Additional collector of Malegaon Dhananjay Nikam and tehsildar and were those among present.
