‘Revoke SRO-202 completely’

JAMMU, July 7: J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (R) has demanded framing of comprehensive policy for the regularization of daily rated workers and release of their wages.
Addressing a joint press conference here today senior members of the EJAC, Babu Hussain Malik, Yash Pal Sharma, Kulwant Singh Sambyal, Darshan Magotra, Parshotam Sharma and others strongly criticized the J&K UT Administration for ignoring the genuine issues of the employees and temporary workers. They alleged that despite repeated representations and protests, the higher authorities have remained unmoved. Wages of many DRWs has not been paid for the months together and worst is the condition in PHE, I&FC department, they added.
The EJAC members further said that there are about one lakh daily rated workers engaged by the Government in various departments. Many of them have been working even for the last over 15-20 years. They are not getting their wages regularly and there is no fixed scale of their wages. They should be brought under uniform wage policy. They said that the previous BJP-PDP Government had started the process of their regularization under SRO 520 which stand rejected by the EJAC and most of the employees unions and associations.
They pointed out that the EJAC demands revival and amendment of SRO-64 of the 1994 and adopt the same guidelines for the regularization of daily rated workers (DRWs) of various departments. They said that irresponsible attitude of the Government was condemnable.
Launching attack on UT Administration, they said by only reducing probation period under SRO- 202 was not sufficient. The other conditions like non-payment of allowances and other benefits have not been withdrawn. They demanded that SRO-202 should be revoked completely, otherwise, it is just an act of befooling educated unemployed youth and others in job under said SRO.
They also demanded removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre/ amendment in SRO 333, resolution of pending issues of Accounts cadre, regularisation of NHRM, Khidmat Centre workers, Asha Workers, Home Guards, Anganwadi workers and Helpers, contractual teachers ; 5-day work pattern in all offices, revoke SRO 24, release of pending DA installments and implement Minimum Wages Act on Central norms. They resolved to stage protest dharna at Press Club, Jammu on July 13.
