International conference on ‘Renewable Power-2020’ begins at BGSBU

RAJOURI, July 13: The two- day virtual international conference on `Renewable Power-2020 ‘, organised by Electrical Engineering Department, SoET, BGSBU in collaboration with Electrical Engineering Department, ZHCET, AMU under TEQIP-III twinning arrangement, began today at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri.
Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor BGSBU, inaugurated the conference. In his Inaugural address, he said that Electrical Engineers and scientists have to travel an extra mile to harvest the benefits of green energy for making this planet a better place to live for generations to come. “Invention of the light bulb is one of the most significant events in all of world history and had a profound impact on the modern world. Since then Electrical Engineers have made huge strides in producing energy efficient devices, and thus they have the unique opportunity to make a bigger impact on the environment than any other policy”, he said.
Prof Sufyan Beg, Principal, ZHCET AMU, who was the guest of honour in the inaugural function, said that the Covid-19 has taught us to become energy conscious. He stressed upon the delegates and participants to navigate their research towards the designing of energy efficient devices.
Prof Atif Iqbal, General Chair: ICRP-2020, presented the conference report. Earlier, Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs and coordinator TEQIP-III, delivered the welcome address. Prof Iqbal said that under TEQIP-III, School of Engineering and Technology, BGSBU, has observed significant improvement in terms of academics and infrastructure and has been developed as centre of excellence for academics and research in the field of engineering and technology.
Prof Asif Hussain, Dean, SoET, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the objectives of the conference. Shafqat Nabi Mughal, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering proposed the vote of thanks. Proceedings of the inaugural session were conducted by Ahmed Riyaz. More than hundred research papers have been received from various parts of the world which shall be presented during 16 technical sessions in the two-day conference.
