JAMMU, July 15: Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association (JKATA), president, Dr Surinder Radotra and other association members have shown sympathy with the bereaved family of one of their senior comrade who became a victim of COVID- 19 yesterday in a meeting here, today held with the office bearers and associates of other Agri associations.
During the meeting tributes were paid to departed soul whom the Association declared as a martyr who laid down his life while performing the duty during the COVID Pandemic. All the associations appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, G .C Murmu, Chief Secretary, B.V.R Subrahmanyum and Principal Secretary Agriculture, Navin K. Chowdhary to enable the Agri warriors avail the risk coverage of Rs 50 lakh as insurance in case of any eventuality to the concerned as in case of medicos, as the Agri warriors are also fighting the war against the COVID from fore front. Since the agrocrats are working deep into the well of the Panchayats and remote villages where there is no provision of S.O.P nor the adequate facilities on ground so in case of routine as well as emergency they need to be covered against the risk.
It said there are no respective P.P Kits available with the Agri warriors which would safeguard them from the catastrophic pandemic. On one hand the Government is ensuring stay home stay safe and on other hand it is extracting the work from employees who are neither insured nor have the pensionary benefits because of the so called employment policy introduced by the successive Governments of the U.T.
Reiterating that the Agri warriors are fighting the evil war from fore front at different dimensions like farmers field, the K.C.C target or else, the Association said there has not been even a single comment from the administration retarding the redressal of the distress so caused forcing the unions and associations to register their protest.
It said the Department has lost a young and dynamic officer fighting with the evil corona communicated through contact history in the office as reported by the family members of the deceased, the Government and the authorities are urged to compensate the bereaved family by paying minimum of Rs 50 lakh as the late officer was quite young and had more than a decade of services at his back. It said that there’s no other source of income to the bereaved family which has six number of dependent so it becomes a moral responsibility of the Department to project an immediate employment to the next of the deceased family failing which the family will have to starve and come on road.
