SAMBA, July 16: Samba police has arrested a notorious criminal after slapping PSA on him to curtail his anti social activities which were prejudicial to security of the State.
Police said the notorious drug peddler identified as Yogeshwar Singh alias Jaibu, S/o Yashpaul Singh R/o UdhMandi, GurhaSlathia, Tehsil Vijaypur district Samba is involved in number of drug smuggling cases, criminal activities and is posing great threat to the health of the general public. A special team of Police Station Vijaypur was constituted and he was arrested on July 14 by police.
Police said he is involved in number of criminal activities. Besides, he is also involved in illicit trafficking of narcotics drugs psychotropic substances destroying the future of young generation by supplying them narcotics and affecting their physical health. Recently his viral video came to fore wherein he made clear to the people of the locality that he is not going to shun his criminal activities and threatened those who will come into his way. He has become potential and grave threat to the public order and his activities were highly prejudicial to the security of the State. His activities were sending a wrong signal to the society and encouraged the like-minded persons especially the youth to join his gang of illicit drug smuggling in different areas of the district.
The accused is involved in a number of drug smuggling and criminal cases registered against him in the district Samba which included FIR No. 47/2015 U/S 307/341/382/147 RPC, 3/25, 4/25 Arms Act, FIR No. 32/2017 U/S 341/323/34 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act FIR No. 116/2017 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act, FIR No. 51/2018 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act and FIR No. 106/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act. All these FIRs are registered at Police Station Vijaypur in Samba district, police added.
Keeping in view of his repeated involvement in drug smuggling activities, a dossier was prepared by Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba and forwarded to Divisional Commissioner Jammu who formally issued the order of his detention under the PSA. The detention warrant was executed by a Police team of PS Vijaypur on July 14 and the accused has been lodged in Central Jail, KotBalwal, Jammu.
