Abandoned bridge

The administration has been brazenly bungling in the completion of Mangloor Bridge over Tarah in district Kathua which is supposed to have served the connectivity of at least 30,000 people of five Panchayats. The history of this half-constructed and abandoned bridge for last two years and half glaringly reflects a combination of incompetence on the part of JKPCC, the organization that boasts of being the premier organization charged with the responsibility of bringing about infrastructural development of the State. A bridge whose foundation stone was laid by the then Public Works Minister with great fanfare and tall claims of completing it within shortest possible time did start with a bang. The JKPCC had further sub-let it to a construction company of Jammu which brought up its sub-structure within 4 months but then stopped the work on its super structure for various reasons. Some differences, real or imaginary or man-made cropped up between this Construction Company and the JKPCC which forced the contractor to stop further work. Also the question of non release of funds came up. It seems there has been much of a mess in this transaction and we would suggest the government to institute an enquiry into the entire sordid affair. More than thirty thousand people affected by the floods during rainy season have been suffering for want of safe connectivity for last nearly two years and half. Who is answerable to their plight especially when funds were allocated and the work had begun with good start. The R&B Minister should have ordered departmental enquiry into the entire case.
