JAMMU, Oct 2: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla in Punjab clinched the 2nd Annual Bari Brahmana Kesari Dangal Title, defeating Wrestler Satish of Alamgir in Punjab in 14 minutes bout.
The mega wrestling event was organized by Peer Baba Bari Brahmana Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Nazir Hussian, Vijay Singh Jasrotia and President, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma at Mini Stadium, Bari Brahmana.
A total of 36 bouts were played and around 72 wrestlers drawn from within and outside the State participated. An amount of Rs 250000 was incurred for conduct of this Vishal one-day dangal.
MLA Surjit Singh Salathia was the chief guest while Treasurer, Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma, presided over the function. Tehsildar, Abdul Majid, SDPO, Shehzad Salaria and Executive officer, Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, were the guests of honour. NC Block President, Vijaypur, Bhagwan Singh, was also present on the occasion.
Wrestler Gani was awarded with handsome cash prize of Rs 31000 by Shiv Kumar Sharma and Tehsildar Abdul Majid while runner up Wrestler Satish got Rs 20000.
The second bout was fought between Benia Min of J&K Police and Farooq Ahmed of Sarore. This bout ended in a draw and both the Wrestlers were jointly awarded with cash of Rs 31000 by Rashid Mohd and Yakoob Ahmed.
Third bout was won by Kalu of Bishnah who defeated Lallu of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu. Winner Kalu was awarded with cash prize of Rs 7000 while runner-up Lallu got Rs 5000. Murad Ali of Domana Akhara beat Deepu of Dera Baba Nanak while Roshan Lal of J&K Police beat Teg Ali of Mallerkotla.
Peer Baba Bari Brahmana Dangal Committee donated Rupees one lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund through chief guest, MLA, SS Salathia, for the flood victims of J&K. Executive officer, Bari Brahmana also donated one day salary of staff of Municipality Bari Brahmana to the tune of Rs 31000 to the MLA.
