JAMMU, Mar 16: Superb 5-wicket haul and valuable 25 runs by former First Class cricketer Abid Nabi helped Sports Council XI to drub Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) by 29 runs in the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Over Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here.
The Tournament is being organized in the memory of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Chief Minister, under the overall supervision of Waheed-Ur-Rehaman Parra, Secretary Sports Council and supervision of Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy.
Earlier, batting first, Sports Council XI scored 175 runs in 35 overs. Khalid top scored with 41 runs, while Sahil Shafi and Abid Nabi contributed 34 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Pankaj Ladda and Mujtaba Rizvi also contributed 23 and 19 runs to the total. For KCCC, Ankush Bandral took 4 wickets, while Akash Choudhary and skipper Manik Gupta bagged 2 wickets each and Sahil Lotra claimed one.
In reply, KCCC managed to score 147 runs in 29.5 overs, thus lost the match by 29 runs. Soumay Jain top scored with 33 runs, while Ankush Bandral contributed 22 runs to the total. Akash Choudhary and Ramdayal chipped in with 18 and 17 runs respectively. Abid Nabi was the wrecker-in-chief for for J&K Sports Council XI, who took 5 important wickets by conceding 30 runs in his 7.5 overs, while Nadeem Dar bagged 2 wickets. Sahil Shafi and Mujtaba Rizvi claimed one wicket each. For his brilliant all-round display, Abid Nabi was adjudged as the man of the match.
