SIMBAL, Jan 12: Defeating Market Bulls Cricket Club (MBCC) by a narrow margin of 15 runs, Absolute Cricket Club lifted the title trophy of the 2nd Diwali Cup T20 Tournament at Govt High School ground, here.
Batting first, Absolute Club scored a decent total of 158 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Manjeet, Prithi and Showkat contributed 29, 27 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For MBCC, Ritik bagged 3 wickets, while Monu and Ashu claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, MBCC managed to score 143 runs to lose the match by 15 runs. Puneet top scored with 34 runs, while Sahil and Aman contributed 29 runs each and Ritik chipped in with 17 runs. For Absolute Club, Kuldeep Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Satish Kumar took 2 wickets. For his 5-wicket haul, Kuldeep was adjudged as man of the match and for performing brilliantly in the tournament, he was declared as man of the series also.
Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary SGPC Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
The match was officiated by Kulbir Singh, Harcharan Singh and Gurmeet Singh.
