ABVP, NSF seek JU explanation over affiliation episode

JAMMU, Aug 1: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad and National Secular Forum have asked the Jammu University to explain the reasons, which allowed to entertain the affiliation applications even after expiry of deadline for submission of the same.
ABVP activists of Jammu University unit held a strong protest against the JU administration on the Campus. The protest was led by ABVP JU secretary, Kanav Sharma along with Shubham Amar and Shiv Pangotra.
They condemned the alleged double standards of the University authorities, which did not allow ABVP to hold even a blood donation camp on the campus by claiming that the university statute did not permit for the same whereas affiliation applications of high-profile were considered in clear violation of same statutes.
Kanav Sharma sought to know the reason for violation of statutes and under which capacity the applicants were allowed to sit in the internal Meeting of the Deans. He demanded public explanation along with apologies for this act. “ABVP will take this protest to every college of Jammu until the university administration gives an explanation in this regard, he added
Others, who addressed the protest demonstration, included Prashant, Ganesh Kunde, Piyush Khajuria, Ishan Chandan, Daleep Singh and Deepak.
Meanwhile, NSF has also asked Jammu University Vice-Chancellor to explain what prompted him to intervene for getting the affiliation applications considered in violation of statutes.
Talking to media persons, NSF secretary Amit Santora alleged that the Jammu University has crossed all limits for accommodating the VIPs whereas on the other hand, students were being victimized and denied of their genuine rights on the name of same statutes.
The NSF leader also demanded a high level probe into alleged the affiliation episode and other wrongdoing in the university.
