Academy announces Best Film Award

JAMMU, Oct 18: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages today announced Best Film Competition Award 2014 under Fiction & Non-Fiction Categories.
The announcement was made after the approval of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is also the President of the Academy.
Under Non-fiction category the film titled “Ancient Architectural style of Kashmir” was adjudged Best Film for the Year 2014. The Film titled “Lost Dreams” was adjudged 2nd Best Film under the same category .
Under Fiction Category the Best Film Award goes in favour of a Film titled “Twenty Years”. The film “Wakeup” was adjudged as 2nd Best Film while Sula Mout Film stood 3rd in the competition, under fiction category.
T Wangdus and D Wanchik Mogol have been chosen for “Best Director Award” for the film “Twenty Years”. Zahoor Zaidi was adjudged “Best Actor Male” for the Film “Sula Mout” while Dechen Yangdol was adjudged Best Actor Female for the Film “Twenty Years”.
The Awards carry Rs 30,000 each for Best Film under Fiction and Non-Fiction Category while Rs 25,000 for 2nd Best film in both the categories. The Award of Rs 20,000 each is to be awarded for the 3rd Best Film Fiction and Non Fiction categories. The Best Director, Best Male Actor and Best Female Actor Awards carry Rs 20,000 each under Fiction category. Besides this, a citation and a Shawl are also given to the winners.
According to Haroon Rashid, Secretary Academy, the Award presentation ceremony will be held at Jammu shortly. “We will also hold a three day Film Festival wherein all the films will be screened,” he added.
