DODA, Nov 20: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a symposium on the topic “Communal Harmony ” at Town Hall, here today.
The District Development Commissioner Doda, Mubarak Singh was the chief guest on this occasion and Prof Z A Hashmi, Principal Govt Degree College Doda was the guest of honour.
In this symposium, 18 students of different educational institutions of Doda participated and threw light on the given topic which was appreciated by the gathering of the students, scholars and prominent citizens present on the occasion.
In his speech, the chief guest said that the Communal Harmony is the need of hour for the oneness and betterment of the country.
He also lauded the role of youth in the harmony between the different religions/communities and appreciated the role of J&K Cultural Academy in organizing the programmes.
At the end, the cash prizes of Rs 500 each were distributed among the participants by the chief guest.
A painting exhibition was also held on the occasion.
Prizes and certificates were also distributed among the winners of the Essay Writing competition, which was held earlier, wherein Hilal Ahmed of GHSS Ghat, Zabia Tabassum Dev of Shaheen Public School Doda and Madeeha Tabassum of GMHSS Doda were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
They were awarded with a cash prize of 10,000, 7,000 and 5,000 respectively.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Jameela Khatoon of CVPS Doda, Mehrun Nisa of GMHSS Doda and Summaya Sikender of PPS Doda. They were given Rs 3,000 each.
The welcome address was given by Assadullah Wani, Cultural Officer and the programme was conducted by Slah-ud-Din, Asstt Cultural Officer.
Rashid Jahangir, Daljeet Kotwal and Muhammad Rafi Wani were also present on the occasion.
