ACB attaches properties of KAS officer Noor Alam

JAMMU, Feb 10: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has attached the properties worth lakhs of rupees belonging to Deputy Secretary ARI & Training Deptt, Noor Alam
The action against the officer was initiated after verifying allegations that Alam during his service period has amassed huge properties both movable and immovable worth crores of rupees in his own name and in the name of his family members which were disproportionate to his known and lawful sources of income.
During verification it also surfaced that the public servant has also made huge investments in purchase of a flat and land in Jammu though he originally hailed from village Gargal, Akhnoor and is presently residing at Bathindi in Jammu.
On the basis of findings of the verification a case in FIR No. 21/2019 U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) of the PC Act Svt. 2006 was registered at police station Anti Corruption Bureau Jammu against Noor Alam, KAS and the investigation was started.
Alam was initially appointed as VLW in the year 1992 but later rose to the position of Deputy Secretary, ARI & Training Department and during this period he accumulated huge assets both movable and immovable by investing his ill-gotten money.
After the registration of the case searches were conducted at the residence of Alam during which incriminating documents relating to huge purchase of property, flats and investment in policies and bank balance was found.
A handout of ACB stated that accordingly proceedings under Section 8-B of JK PC Act were initiated against the accused during which his properties worth lakhs were attached.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is another case in FIR No. 08/2018 against Noor Alam and others for abuse of official position and misappropriation of public funds which is also under investigation with ACB.
Investigation in both the cases is in progress.
