ACB organises symposium on corruption

KATHUA, Nov 1: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) organised an inter-school symposium on the topic ‘Role & Responsibilities of a Citizen in Fighting Corruption’ at Indian Public School, here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Atul Gupta was the chief guest. The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamps by the chief guest, followed by reciting of Saraswati Vandana by the students of the School.
Eleven students of four different Schools participated in the event and spoke on various facets of corruption, role of the society in curbing and suggestive proactive measures to root out the menace of corruption.
The chief guest appreciated the participating students for throwing light on the subject covering all dimensions of the problem of corruption. He said a society has collective responsibility to discourage the practise of alluring someone by offering consideration for personal gains.
Inspector Kamal Sangra gave a brief introduction about the functioning of ACB besides giving lectures on the corrupt practices adopted by the Government functionaries. He also gave a powerpoint presentation on the topic and made the participants aware about the ultimate impact of corruption on the Nation’s economy.
A jury of three judges judged the symposium.
Savesha Andotra & Lavanya Puri of Mount Litera Zee School clinched first two positions respectively and Aishna Sharma of St. Xavier Convent School scored 3rd position.
Chairperson Indian Public School, Anu Dogra, Principal Barinder Jot Kour, Inspector Sushil Sharma and Inspector Amit Singh of ACB besides management, staff and students of the host School were present during the event.
