Accounts officer convicted for corruption

JAMMU, June 1: The Special Anti-corruption Judge, Kashmir presided by Yash Paul Bourney convicted accused Mohd Shuban Shah, a resident of Lar Ganderbal, the then Accounts officer, Electric Commercial Division PDD, Basantbagh, Srinagar in case FIR No 10/2005.
On conclusion of the trial, the Special Judge, Anti-corruption pronounced the accused guilty and convicted the accused to one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 besides six months imprisonment for offences punishable under Section 161 RPC and both the sentences shall run concurrently.
The accused was caught red handed while demanding accepting Rs 1000 as bribe for forwarding inspection report of the complainant to higher authorities. The accused has been lodged in Central Jail Srinagar for undergoing the above said sentences.
