REASI, Oct 5: Amidst pulls and pressures and the direct intervention of the Judicial Magistrate Mahore, the police today arrested the accused teacher, Ghulam Hussain, son of Faiz Ahmed, resident of Chhajru (Mahore) for committing rape on her 12th class student in the school premises.
A senior police officer told the Excelsior that accused teacher, Ghulam Hussain, who was wanted in the rape of a girl student Samina Akhtar, daughter of Moulvi, Said Wali, was today arrested from a house of his relatives in Mahore area. The accused will be produced in the court of law within a day or two, he maintained.
Though the family members and the girl were being harassed and pressurized by some local influential people to withdraw the case, the victim who was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate, Mahore yesterday, narrated the whole story. The victim also told the court that she was called in the room by teacher during recess time and he committed rape on her after bolting the door from inside.
When the victim was produced in the court on Thursday, she did not divulge anything to the Judge and preferred to keep silence. The Judge realized that the girl has been terrorised not to open mouth. The Judge then persuaded the girl and asked her not to be afraid of any body and give her statement freely. The Magistrate also asked all other people including policemen and family members to stay out side. The girl then broke down and started weeping bitterly. She narrated the whole incident to the Judge. The Judge passed on strict instructions to SHO Mahore to arrest the accused and produce in the court.
After mounting pressure from the court, local public and the clear statement of the girl against teacher, the accused who allegedly used the political influence on the poor family to withdraw case, was finally arrested today. The local people have widely appreciated the role of the court, which ultimately came out for the rescue of the victim and poor family. The fishy role of Mahore police in this case has also come under scanner as it remained inactive for the last two weeks.
Meanwhile, CEO Reasi K K Gupta said that accused teacher has been placed under suspension and an inquiry committee has been constituted to look into the role of teacher and School Principal, Ashok Dogra. It will submit its report to the Director for further action, he added.
The police has registered a case FIR No. 76/2012 under Section 376 RPC against teacher, Ghulam Hussain. It said the parents of the girl lodged an FIR on September 21. The incident took place during recess time on September 3, 2012 in the school premises. The teacher called the girl, inside the room and offered some stuff and then committed rape on her. The girl was fainted and was hospitalized at Mahore. She was then referred to GMC Jammu where she remained under treatment there for some days.
