JAMMU, Dec 19: Brought laurels to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, ace runners Samvit Sharma and Sahil Sharma conquered the challenging 100-mile Jaisalmer Ultra Run and became the first from Jammu and Kashmir to compete in this marathon. Along with them, a team of Rahul Sharma, Ronit Verma and Vivek Magotra also completed the run in the 100 km category.
Both Sahil Sharma and Samvit Sharma became the first runners from Union Territory to complete the challenging 100-mile Jaisalmer Ultra Run in 26:49 hours and 22 hours, respectively.
The Jaisalmer Ultra Marathon this year saw participation from elite runners who have proven their mettle in renowned Ultras in India and abroad. Seasoned runners want to test their endurance traversing through the vast expanse of the Great Indian Thar. The race, now in its fifth year, uniquely combines the thrill of ultra running with a solemn purpose—to honor the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers in the Battle of Longewala.
This exceptional team was part of the Jammu Ultra Trail Tribe (J.U.T.T) initiative. They not only set high goals but also dedicate themselves to motivating and aiding fellow runners in their pursuit of success.
